This very popular spoon is commonly referred to is the "hearts" absinthe spoon due to the small cutouts in the center of its handle, which resemble four small hearts. Absinthe spoons like this one, are exact reproductions of the oldest of all absinthe spoon designs. Early absinthe spoons resembled what we would call a tea spoon today. This high quality stainless steel absinthe spoon is used to hold the sugar cube while preparing a traditional French or Swiss absinthe. Drinkers would turn the spoon upside down and lay it across the glass, the sugar cubes would them be placed within the "hearts" cutouts. This absinthe spoon is also one of our longest, allowing it accommodate most any glass. It is an exact reproduction of a middle 19th century absinthe spoon.
