Topettes were used as a vessel to serve absinthe in a bar. The bartender or waiter would give the customer a full topette of absinthe. Once the topette was returned to the bartender, he would then know how much to charge the customer by the amount of absinthe missing from the bottle. Each of the marks are typically a 30ml dose. The marks sometimes varied in size due to the size of the glass used. It is rare to have the matching bouchon (glass stopper). Includes bouchon.

The marks on the bottle are all are typical of the period and were made by acid etching. The numbers etched into this topette are numbers 1 thru 4.
