This is an original Edouard Pernod absinthe bottle from the late 19th or early 20th century.

Henri-Louis Pernod (the founder of Pernod absinthes) had two sons, the eldest Edouard, remained in Couvet, Switzerland and transferred the company to his own name in 1827. His father and brother stayed in Pontarlier, France focusing their attention on the every growing demand for absinthe in France and Europe. Edouard was responsible for distribution, primarily to North and South America.

Pernod was not only the first to commercially produce (via Dubied & Fils) and sell absinthe, but it was also considered the best made absinthe, using only the freshest and quality ingredients that could be found throughout Europe and Asia. Pernod Fils absinthe set the bar for excellence that most other distillers tried to obtain.

Remnants of the foil remain.
