This is an original Edouard Pernod buvard (ink blotter) from their distillery located in Pontarlier, France. Buvards were used as thick, absorbent papers to blot ink from a fountain pen used in writing. They were also sometimes used to soak up the excess ink left on parchment after writing with a fountain pen.
