This print is of an original late 19th century absinthe label print from the distillery of H. Deniset Jeune located in Pontarlier, the birthplace of absinthe in France. It was printed using a 4 color offset printing press, meaning each color is applied separately. This method of printing would have been the same used to produce the original labels. The colors and image are sharp and vibrant. Silver metallic ink was used in the printing process on the wormwood branches and leaves, adding to the authentic look and feel of the print. The use of metallic inks creates a shiny, rich finish and an authentic look. The photo above does not feature the metallic ink.
The black line that borders the image above is used only as a reference for what the poster would look like framed and matted.
