Most of our fountains are reproductions of the most famous traditional absinthe fountains from the turn of the 20th century. In the latter part of the 19th century, the originals were produced in Paris, France, by the Georges LONG company, the #1 maker of absinthe fountains and other absinthe accouterments. All aspects of many of our fountains have been meticulously reproduced from these originals. From the hand-etched glass reservoir to the beading around the base, these pieces are made to be used. Our fountains are in use daily in bars and restaurants throughout the world, so you can rest assured that they will easily handle any of your absinthe ritual needs.
During France's Belle Époque, absinthe fountains were most commonly found in high-end bars because of their expensive price tag. The waiter brought the dispenser to the table, where the customer would prepare the absinthe themself. Fountains like these were (and still are) the preferred way to prepare absinthe, as one can easily control the rate of water. Unfortunately, very few antique fountains have survived with their original glass bowl and spouts intact due to accidents, making them more collectible as time passes.
